Under the current investment programme, London Underground (LU) is replacing all existing (analogue) CCTV systems with digital recording technology to all of its stations.
This will lead to an increase in the amount of recorded data available for use in post-event investigation. By Law, LU is required to manage its CCTV data in accordance with legally enforceable standards applicable to the collection and processing of it. Legislation also places an onus on LU to ensure that data is carefully managed, as it may need to be used for subsequent prosecution.
To accomplish this, LU has revised the 'station checks and tests' table entitled 'CCTV and recording equipment' (page 13) and section 10.5 (page 43) of Rule Book11 which are attached below. This will ensure that management of CCTV data complies with the legal requirements and helps to provide an effective audit trail.
