This specification covers portable indicators used for detecting and indicating the concentration of combustible gases and vapors in air and for indicating the oxygen content in air (see 6.2).
Portable combustible gas and oxygen indicators shall be of the following types and classes as specified (see 6.1.1):
Class 1 - Combustible gas, types A or B. Class 2 - Oxygen. Class 3 - Dual units - combustible gas and oxygen. Type A - Detect miscellaneous combustible gases or vapors, and atmospheres containing nonleaded gasoline vapors (see 3.4.1.1 and 3.4.1.4). Type B - Detect miscellaneous combustible gases or vapors, including leaded gaso- line vapors (see 3.4.1.2).
