This module of NR/L2/TRK/001 covers:

a) Frequencies for basic visual track inspections, Section Manager track inspections and Track Maintenance Engineer track inspections;

b) Arrangements for planning and undertaking track inspections;

c) Cab riding;

d) Inspection from vehicles;

e) Inspection in poor light conditions and darkness;

f) Reporting of inspections completed and defects found;

g) Who undertakes the inspections;

h) Permitted substitution and delegation of inspections

This module does not cover:

i) the inspection of sidings (see NR/L2/TRK/001/mod17);

j) the visual inspection and the ultrasonic testing of rails (see NR/L2/TRK/001/mod06);
