Organization: SAE
Publication Date: 15 November 1971
Status: inactive
Page Count: 9
scope:

Form: This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of heat treated bars, wire, forgings, and flash welded rings and stock for forging and flash welded rings.

Application: Primarily for parts which are machined after solution and precipitation heat treatment. Suitable for parts, such as pressure vessels and other aerospace structures, requiring high strength-to-weight ratios at, or near, room temperature. Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause this material to be subject to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP 982 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
