This standard is intended to cover the complete general and dimensional data for the various types of square and hexagon bolts and screws recognized as "American Standard."

Also included are appendixes covering wrench openings for bolts and screws, grade markings for steel bolts and screws, thread runout sleeve gages, specifications for identification of bolts and screws, and formulas on which dimensional data are based. It should be understood, however, that where questions arise concerning acceptance of product, the dimensions in the tables shall govern over recalculation by formula. It should be noted that standards for square and hexagon nuts, machine screws and machine screw nuts, tapping screws, wood screws, socket cap and set screws and other related fascenrs are published under separate cover as listed on the back sheer of this standard.

The inclusion of dimensional data in this standard is not intended to imply that all of the products described herein are stock production sizes. Consumers are requested to consult with manufacturers concerning lists of stock production sizes.
