The Bicon covered by this specification is intended for the
storage, transportation and distribution of dry cargo. These Bicons
are based on commercial designs and manufactured using commercial
processes. They are further modified for military unique
requirements which are identified within this specification for
operation in an extreme environment, under conditions typically
found in military operations. Military unique requirements include,
but are not limited to the following: NBC survivability; military
tie downs, corrosion resistance; storage and transit in
temperatures from -40 °F (-40 degrees Celsius (°C)) to +160 °F
(+71.1 °C); internally air transportable by a variety of military
aircraft; and externally air transportable from a CH-47 helicopter
by sling. Further military unique modifications to Bicons may
include, but are not limited to the following: field petroleum
systems; field hygiene systems; command and control posts; and
chapels. Army users will contact the Tank-automotive and Armaments

requirements. CARC green 383, color number 34094 of FED-STD-595 is
the default paint requirement for the Bicon described within this
specification, and the NSN for this Bicon is 8150-01-609-6544.
