scope:
Use/Relationship: The CRP defines the process and structure for the nuclear certification of a weapon, weapon system, subsystem, and associated software, hardware, procedures, personnel, support equipment, and facilities. The CRP defines all of the activities and tasks that must be accomplished for nuclear safety and compatibility certification of the weapon system. In addition, it defines the action agencies, and the nuclear certification schedule associated with the tasks identified in the CRP
a. There are two different CRP formats that are provided by the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC)/NCS, the Abbreviated CRP and the Full CRP. The Abbreviated CRP is intended for a change to a nuclear certifiable item that will result in minor nuclear certification requirements, often involving action by single agencies. An example of a minor certification effort that would merit the use of the abbreviated format is a minor software update. The Full CRP is intended for nuclear certification efforts that are more complex, often requiring actions from multiple agencies. The decision to use the Abbreviated or Full CRP format is determined by AFNWC/NCS, the preparer of the Basic CRP.
b. This Data Item Description (DID) contains the format and
content preparation instructions for the CRP, as described in Air
Force Instruction (AFI) 63-125, Nuclear Certification Program.
(Copies of the AF Instruction are available online at

c. This DID supersedes DI-NUOR-81412, Software Certification Plan (SCP).
