inactive
Organization: SNZ
Publication Date: 13 March 2013
Status: inactive
Page Count: 32
scope:

This interim Standard applies to gas appliances as defined in the Gas Act.

Verification by inspection and testing is intended, as far as reasonably practicable, to determine that the appliance as installed is not in an unsafe condition and is suitable for use.

Any appliance that presents an immediate danger to life or property that cannot be made safe at the time of verification should be marked or tagged as unsafe and not to be used.

Purpose

The purpose of this interim Standard is to verify the safety of existing gas appliances by assessing their compliance with the Gas (Safety and Measurement) Regulations.

Verification of safety will be achieved by:

(a) Focusing on the required performances that are specified in NZS 5266(Int) and NZS/AS 3645;

(b) Identifying aspects of non-conformance that require improvement, modification, or adjustment to ensure that the appliance is not unsafe to operate.
