scope:

This standard covers the flexible pavement of roads of any type, including paved open spaces, airfields, courtyards, and railway tracks and platforms, the term "pavement" being understood to cover

- the asphalt base,

- the asphalt basecourse,

- any asphalt binder courses, and

- the asphalt surface/wearing course,

and for surface dressing, asphalt protection layers and asphalt surface/wearing courses on bridge decks.

This standard does not deal with

- the placing of coal-tar pitch and pitch-bitumen courses;

- the placing of protection layers on waterproofing and screeds made of mastic asphalt(cf. DIN 18354).

Clauses 1 to 5 of DIN 18299 shall also apply. In cases where the specifications of DIN 18299 contradict the present standard, the latter shall take precedence.
