Purpose

a. To issue guidance for U.S. Navy support to military information support operations (MISO) in compliance with references (a) through (c).

b. This revision provides updated terminology, concepts, and guidance for MISO (formerly psychological operations). Per reference (a), MISO consists of planned operations to convey selected information and indicators to foreign audiences to influence their emotions, motives, objective reasoning, and ultimately the behavior of foreign governments, organizations, groups, and individuals in a manner favorable to the originator's objectives.
