PREFACE

1. This NATO Allied Medical Publication on MINIMUM ESSENTIAL MEDICAL AND SURVIVAL EQUIPMENT FOR LIFE RAFTS INCLUDING GUIDELlNES FOR SURVIVAL AT SEA has been prepared under the reference of STANAG 1185. Its purpose is to provide the guidelines for survival at sea and list of essential equipment on life rafts.

2. This Allied Medical Publication is based on the previous STANAG 1185, Edition 1, which was appropriately ratified and promulgated on 20 January 1977, it is also based on recommendations of International Maritime Organization and recommendations of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 18813:2006 Ships and marine technology - Survival equipment for survival craft and rescue boats). It has been converted to AMedP format in accordance with guidance found in AAP-3(J).
