Policies in this chapter are not applicable to debts owed by the United States (U.S.) Government. Refer to Volume 5, Chapter 25 for policies and procedures for the handling of indebtedness associated with fraud. Policies in this chapter are consistent with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
Purpose
This chapter issues policy for the collection of debts that are owed by contractors, vendors, assignees, and business entities to the Department of Defense (DoD).
