This Standard applies to microwave ovens capable of generating less than 5 kW of microwave power and manufactured €or use in homes and similar locations.

This Standard specifies methods of testing the energy consumption of electrically-operated microwave ovens under specific test conditions. 

This Standard applies to microwave ovens intended to operate through the application of electromagnetic energy at frequencies within the ISM bands (see Clause 2.1) allocated for this purpose.

This Standard applies to cord-connected microwave ovens intended €or use on nominal 120/240 V branch circuits and microwave ovens intended for permanent connection to branch circuits up to 240 V.

This Standard applies to microwave ovens designed to heat food by use of microwave energy. The forms of microwave ovens include portable, countertop, counter-mounted, stationary, stationary combination, built-in, and built-in combination.

Combination microwave ovens--microwave ovens provided with additional means for browning, accomplished by radiant heating means and including "common cavity"--are also covered in the Standard .
