scope:
This standard specifies a method of determining the evaporation loss of lubricants using a Noack tester. The test method relates to a given set of operating parameters, which may, however, be adapted to other conditions when required.
The method specified in this standard uses Wood's metal, which presents a high potential risk of danger owing to its cadmium content. Therefore, the test described should preferably be carried out using non- Woodʼs metal equipment.
DANGER - Wood's metal contains cadmium which is highly toxic and hazardous to the environment. Moreover, it is known to have a mutagenic and teratogenic effect whilst also being presumed to have a cancerogenic effect!
