This IGC covers water treatment equipment drain connectors, which are comprised of a reducer assembly, and air gap reducer assembly or a reducer wye. The reducer assembly and the air gap reducer assembly is designed to attached to the plumbing drainage system using a drainage tee, a diversion tee or a trap adapter. Such devices are intended to provide a transition connection from an appliance or water treatment equipment to the plumbing drainage system. This IGC covers definitions, materials, general requirements, performance requirements and marking requirements for such products.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this IGC is to establish a generally acceptable standard for water treatment equipment drain connectors. This IGC is not intended to be a specification guide nor is it intended to restrict design. Its purpose is to serve as a guide for producers, distributors, architects, engineers, contractors, installers, inspectors and users; to promote understanding regarding materials, manufacture and installation; and to provide for identification of fittings complying with this IGC. 

The provisions of this IGC are not intended to prevent the use of any alternate material, or method of construction, provided that any such alternate meets or exceeds the intent of this IGC.
