scope:
This IGC serves to integrate the provisions of the ASME A112.18.1 standard for supply stop valves with the provisions of the ASSE 1010 standard for water hammer arresters.
This IGC covers minimum standards for materials used in the manufacture of supply stops with integral water hammer arresters. It also serves to prescribe which minimum test requirements must be met respectively for the performance of supply stops which are integrated with water hammer arresters, and vise versa (water hammer arresters which are integrated with supply stops). It also covers methods of marking and identification.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this IGC is to establish a generally acceptable standard for supply stops which are pre-assembled and marketed with an integral water hammer arrester. Its purpose is to serve as a guide for producers, distributors, architects, engineers, contractors, installers, inspectors and users; to promote understanding regarding materials, manufacture and installation; and to provide for identifying standard supply stops with integral water hammer arresters complying with this IGC.
The provisions of this IGC are not intended to prevent the use of any alternate material or design, provided any such alternate meets the intent of this IGC.
