This Standard applies to portable and stationary, incandescent and electric-discharge- lamp (fluorescent, mercury- and sodium-vapour) luminaires of the swimming-pool type and of the submersible type intended for use in other than swimming pool. The luminaires are for connection to a supply circuit of 150 volts and less between conductors, designed to be installed and used in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
This Standard applies to both the wet-niche type and the dry-niche type of swimming-pool luminaires.
This Standard also applies to accessories of the following types, which are intended to be installed and used in conjunction with swimming-pool luminaires:
(a) Forming shells for use with wet-niche luminaires;
(b) Deck boxes complete with covers for installation within the limiting dimensions specified by the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I;
(c) Glass panels and the necessary mounting and sealing frames and gaskets for preventing the pool water from entering a dry niche; and
(d) Metal guards which may be provided for mechanical protection of glass panels and for the reduction of the electric field that may be established in the water of the pool as a result of electrical faults that may develop in the luminaire.
