This standard shall apply to the plastic parts and materials in which plastic portion weighs 100g or more, and the rubber parts and materials in which rubber portion weighs 200g or more. The provisions herein shall apply regardless of the destinations, but whether to mark parts with identification codes or not may be determined for individual projects. This standard does not apply to tires.

PURPOSE

This standard is established to make a unified system of marking material identification codes on the parts made of plastics and rubbers in order to facilitate recycling and disposal of these parts. Marking these parts with material identification codes is a legal obligation as provided in EU directives on end-of life vehicles (2000/53/EC, 2003/138/EC) and the Law for Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources, a domestic law, and marking rules are provided in ISO 11469, ISO 1043 ,ISO 1629 and ISO 18064; thus, this standard is an Isuzu's in-house rules of how to mark identification codes on the parts in compliance with, and on the basis of, the EU directives, the domestic law and the ISO standards. Details of how to mark identification codes are as described in Isuzu Design Manual ITD-005195 (For in-house).
