PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This method assesses the resistance of the colour of textiles of all kinds and in all forms, except loose fibre, when exposed to atmospheric oxides of nitrogen as derived from the combustion of gases such as natural gas, manufactured gas or butane (c.p.) gas.

The method may be used to rate the cOlourfastness of dyes by applying the dye to textiles by a specified procedure and at a specified depth of colour, and testing the dyed textiles.

This method may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use.
