In diesem Teil von ISO 6507 ist ein Verfahren für die Prüfung von Härteprüfmaschinen zur Bestimmung der Vickershärte nach ISO 6507-1 festgelegt.
Es ist ein direktes Prüfverfahren zur Prüfung von Hauptfunktionen der Prüfmaschine und ein indirektes Prüfverfahren, das für die Ermittlung der Funktionsfähigkeit der Prüfmaschine geeignet ist, festgelegt. Das indirekte Prüfverfahren kann für die regelmäßige Routineüberprüfung beim Anwender eingesetzt werden.
Wird eine Prüfmaschine auch für andere Härteprüfverfahren verwendet, muss sie unabhängig für jedes Verfahren geprüft werden.
Dieser Teil von ISO 6507 ist auch auf tragbare Härteprüfgeräte anwendbar.
