Dieser Teil der IEC 61753 enthält die Mindestanforderungen an die Prüfungen und Messungen und die Prüfschärfegrade, die ein optischer Leistungsbegrenzer einhalten muss, damit er als die Anforderungen an einen Einmoden-LWL-Leistungsbegrenzer der Bauform Stecker-Buchse für kontrollierte Umgebung erfüllend eingestuft werden kann. IEC 60869-1 enthält die Fachgrundspezifikation des optischen Leistungsbegrenzers. Das optische Betriebsverhalten, das in dieser Norm festgelegt ist, bezieht sich nur auf optische Leistungsbegrenzer der Bauform Steckverbinder-Buchse.
