scope:
The requirements of this standard shall apply to all horizontal injection molding machines that melt plastic materials, either thermoplastic or thermoset, and rubber, and that inject said material into a mold held closed by a horizontally acting clamp. The machine can be either straight mechanical action, hydraulically actuated toggle, direct hydraulic ram, air ram, or combinations of these types.
Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to establish safety requirements with respect to the construction, care, and use of horizontal injection molding machines.
