General. The requirements of this standard apply to the sawing machine of a general class of machine tool which uses a saw blade (tool) against the work, causing it to be cut off or change its shape. This standard applies to sawing machines designed primarily for sawing metal (ferrous and nonferrous) and other selected materials.
NOTE: Friction cutting of metal could be performed with most of the described types of band and circular metal sawing machines and is part of this standard.
