Standard Specification for Zinc (Hot-Dip Galvanized) Coatings on Iron and Steel Products
|Publication Date:||1 January 1965|
|ICS Code (Metallic coatings):||25.220.40|
(a) These specifications cover the protective zinc coatings, applied on products fabricated from rolled, pressed, and forged steel shapes, plates, bars, and strip, 1/8 in. thick and heavier (Explanatory Note 1) by dipping the articles in a molten bath of zinc (Explanatory Note 2).
(b) These specifications presuppose the use of steel of recognized manufacture conforming to standard specifications. Only steels produced under the trade designation of open hearth, basic oxygen, and electric furnace should be used for galvanizing if any cold working without subsequent annealing or stress relieving is to precede galvanizing.
