This specification covers structural steel shapes, plates, bars, and rivets intended primarily for use in ship construction.
The maximum thickness of plates to be furnished to this specification for those grades shown in Table I shall be as follows:
Grade A plates are limited to ½ in. (12.7 mm), incl, in thickness,
Grade B plates are limited to in. (25.4 mm), incl, in thickness,
Grade C plates are limited to 2 in. (50.8 mm), incl, in thickness,
Grade E plates are limited to 2 in. incl, in thickness, 1.2.5
Grade CS plates are limited to 2 in. incl, in thickness, and 1.2.6
Grade R plates are limited to 2 in. incl, in thickness.
NOTE 1-The values stated in U.S. customary units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric equivalents of U.S. customary units given in the standard may be approximate.
