This specification covers hot-finished or cold-finished bars, except bars for reforging, including rounds, squares, and hexagons, and hot finished or extruded shapes, such as angles, tees, and channels.

NOTE 1-For bars for reforging, sec ASTM Specification A 314, for Stainless and Heat-Resisting Steel Billets and Bars for Reforging.2

Type 201, usually required in flat pro ducts, and Type 202 were developed as a nickel-conservation measure. These types have been found to be a satisfactory substitute in many applications for Types 301 and 302.

NOTE 2-For flat products, sec ASTM Specification A 412, for Stainless and Heat-Resisting Chromium-Nickel-Manganese Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip.3

NOTE 3-The values stated in U.S. customary units are to be regarded as the standard.
