Standard Specification for OXYGEN-FREE ELECTROLYTIC COPPER WIRE BARS, BILLETS, AND CAKES

This specification covers wire bars, billets, and cakes of two grades of oxygen-free electrolytic copper, produced without the use of metallic or metalloidal deoxidizers.
NOTE 1 - Grade 1 copper under this specification corresponds to the designation OFE as shown in ASTM B 224, Classification of Coppers.2
NOTE 2-Grade 2 copper under this specification corresponds to the designation OF as shown in ASTM B 224, Classification of Coppers.
NOTE 3 - By agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser the addition of silver up to 30 oz/ton' to Grade 2 copper (Table I) will be considered within the specification, silver being counted as copper in the chemical analysis. Copper with added silver corresponds to the designation OFS as shown in ASTM B 224, Classification of Coppers.
NOTE 4 - The values in U.S. customary units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric equivalents of U.S. customary units given in the standard may be approximate.
