Standard Specifications for JOINTS FOR CIRCULAR CONCRETE SEWER AND CULVERT PIPE, USING FLEXIBLE, WATERTIGHT, RUBBER GASKETS

These specifications cover joints for circular concrete sewer and culvert pipe, using l1exible watertight, rubber gaskets, where infiltration or exfiltration is a factor in the design. The specifications are intended to cover the design of joints and the requirements for rubber gaskets to be used therewith, for pipe conforming in all other respects to the Specifications for Concrete Sewer Pipe (ASTM Designation: C 14)2 or the Specifications for Reinforced Concrete Culvert, Storm Drain, and Sewer Pipe (ASTM Designation: C 76),2 provided that if there is conflict in permissible variations in dimensions the requirements of these specifications for joints shall govern.
NOTE. - The purchaser of pipe with rubber gasket joints should carefully investigate the adequacy and performance of the rubber gasket joint proposed for use. The infiltration or exfiltration in a pipe line made with these joints should not exceed 0.60 gal per in. of internal pipe diameter per 100 ft of pipe line per hr, where the maximum hydrostatic bead at the center line of the pipe does not exceed 25 ft. The purchaser may specify other infiltration or exfiltration requirements.
