Diese Richtlinie richtet sich vor allem an Anwender in der Industrie.

Strahlungsthermometer, auch Pyrometer genannt, mit elektronischer Messwerterfassung haben einen hohen Entwicklungsstand erreicht. Erfahrungsgemäß ist die Langzeitstabilität industriell hergestellter Strahlungsthermometer unter Laborbedingungen ausreichend. Beim Einsatz in der industriellen Praxis können Veränderungen der messtechnischen Eigenschaften eintreten, die schon in kürzeren Zeitabständen zu größeren Messunsicherheiten als spezifiziert führen können.

Veränderungen der messtechnischen Eigenschaften eines Strahlungsthermometers werden hauptsächlich durch Überschreitung der zulässigen Grenzen der am Einsatzort auftretenden Umweltbedingungen hervorgerufen. Dabei können zeitlich begrenzte oder dauerhafte Störungen bzw. Beschädigungen des Strahlungsthermometers entstehen. Teilweise sind die Störungen auch „schleichend" und nicht sofort während des Messvorgangs feststellbar.

Für Strahlungsthermometer sind daher regelmäßige Überprüfungen und Rekalibrierungen unerlässlich. Die im Folgenden beschriebenen Maßnahmen werden dringend empfohlen. Sie sollen unter Beachtung des Stands der Technik und der Kosten dazu beitragen, dass Fehler frühzeitig erkannt und beseitigt werden.
