Purpose and Scope

This Standard covers requirements and methods for testing of polyethylene (PE) pipe made in standard dimensions for drip irrigation. Included are criteria for classifying PE plastic materials and PE pipe, a system of nomenclature for PE plastic pipe, and requirements and methods of test for materials, workmanship, dimensions, sustained pressure, burst pressure, and environmental stress crack resistance. Methods of marking are also given.

NOTE-This Standard is presently written for PE material. Other thermoplastic materials may be suitable for this specification and if presented will be tested in accordance with this Standard.
