This Standard specifies the steel tubes used for the purpose of exchanging the heat between the inside and the outside of tubes at exceptionally low temperatures of freezing point or under (hereafter referred to as "tubes"), such as heat exchanger tubes and condenser tubes .
This Standard is applicable to the tubes of 15.9 mm to 50.8 mm in outside diameter.
In addition to the items specified in the text, the special quality requirements and U-bend tubes which the purchaser can designate upon the previous agreement with the manufactures are soecified in Annex JA and Annex JB, respectively.
NOTE 1 Austenitic stainless steel tubes specified in JIS G 3463 can be used for steel heat exchanger tubes for low temperature service.
NOTE 2 The International Standards corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.
ISO 9329-3 : 1997 Seamless steel tubes for pressure purposes - Technical delivery conditions - Part 3 : Unalloyed and alloyed steels with specified low temperature properties
ISO 9330-3 : 1997 Welded steel tubes for pressure purposes - Technical delivery conditions - Part 3 : Electric resistance and induction welded unalloyed and alloyed steel tubes with specified low temperature properties (overall evaluation: MOD)
The symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standards and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1.
