This International Standard describes the process fundamentals of Additive Manufacturing (AM). It also gives an overview of the existing process categories. This International Standard explains the compatibility of different process categories with different feedstock. Feedstock and product requirements for combinations of processes and feedstock will be given in subsequent separate parts to this standard and are therefore not covered by this standard. This International Standard describes the overarching principles of these subsequent standards.
