Preface
Introduction to Medical Imaging Management is designed
to be a reference book. In the past, for the most part, people who
moved into management positions in medical imaging were chosen
because they were the best technologists. The skill set for
technologists and supervisors/managers
Even an MBA-prepared person may not be ready to take on imaging management. As an example, when buying a very expensive piece of imaging equipment, this person would not necessarily know the right questions to ask, such as: what is my guaranteed uptime? Is technologist training included?
I have tried to cover all of the important aspects of the business side of imaging. This book is meant to be an overview. It is not meant to be comprehensive in any area discussed. Each area, such as marketing or finance, is its own specialty, and much more specialty material is available for the new manager out in the market.
My hope is that people new to medical imaging management will not be as overwhelmed as many of us "seasoned" managers were when taking on this new role.
Best of luck to all of you in your medical imaging management endeavors!
