This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for Military Vehicle Two (2) - Line Air Pressure Braking Systems. It controls the types of installation; states the performance requirements; and specifies the test standards. It also identifies approved individual components and braking systems for use on motor vehicles, tractors, trailers, semi-trailers and other drawn equipments.
The International System of units (SI) has been used throughout this Defence Standard, however imperial and metric units are used for pipes and fittings where no agreement has been reached in industry for conversion to SI units.
Reference to air pressures in this document, infers gauge pressures measured in bar (1 bar = 105N/m2 = 100 kPa).
Expressions used in this Defence Standard, conform to the definitions assigned to them in EEC Directives.
