scope:

Purpose

a. To revise the required operational capabilities (ROC) and projected operational environment (POE) for amphibious command ship (LCC-20) Mount Whitney. This instruction is being reissued with a new date, updated version and signature authority to meet the Chief of Naval Operations' (CNO) age requirememnts for the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) instructions.

b. This instruction is a complete revision, contains new mission areas, and renaming of anti-air warfare to air warfare (AW), command and control (C2) warfare to information operations (IO), and anti-surface warfare to surface warfare (SUW). Various fleet support operations (FSO) ROC statements were moved to force health protection (FHP) by reference (a) with changes reflected herein.
