DIN - AD 2000-Merkblatt S 3/4

General verification of stability for pressure vessels - Vessels with support brackets

active, Most Current
Organization: DIN
Publication Date: 1 September 2001
Status: active
Page Count: 12
ICS Code (Pressure vessels): 23.020.30
scope:

This AD 2000-Merkblatt may be used to provide verification for vertical, cylindrical vessels on support brackets. Verification is carried out separately for the local addition al stress in the pressure-vessel wall in the region of the support bracket and for the support bracket itself.

Substantial increases in stress within the meaning of 4.5 of AD 2000-Merkblatt B 0 are to be expected in the region of the brackets, particularly in the case of thin-walled vessels (e/Da< 0,005) and in the case of high bracket forces due to large filling or additional weights, wind in the case of very slim vessels (H/Da> 5) as well as high transverse accelerations.

The calculation is valid for values e/Da > 0,003. Outside this range, special investigations taking into account stability are to be performed, e.g. according to [6].

The application of this AD 2000-Merkblatt assumes that the edges of the reinforcement plates should as a rule be located at least √Da . e from the ends of the cylinder. Verification of support brackets without reinforcement plates may be carried out in accordance with [6] for example.
