This Standard applies to LU.
Because of the very wide variations in the types of workplace and locations managed and controlled by LU and the levels of risk within them, section 3 below defines broad, high-level requirements that shall be achieved by all managers with defined responsibilities for workplaces and locations. Section 5 - Supporting Information sets out more specific requirements in respect of operational areas where best practice in undertaking planned general inspections (PGIs) has been developed and established over a number of years. In respect of all other areas required to be the subject of PGIs, the defined responsible managers are required to develop their local arrangements in consultation and agreement with their Senior HSE Manager.
Purpose
The purpose of this Standard is to define London Underground (LU) requirements for undertaking systematic, risk-based inspections of all LU workplaces and the activities undertaken within such workplaces and identify any hazards, substandard conditions or substandard practices present
