This Standard specifies the classification and performance requirements of watches that are designed to withstand a magnetic field (hereafter referred to as "magnetic resistant watches").

Electronic display type watches shall be excluded from the scope of this Standard because they are not affected by a magnetic field in principle.

NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

ISO 764: 2002 Horology-Magnetic resistant watches (MOD)

In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/lEC Guide 21-1.
