PURPOSE AND EFFECTIVE DATE

The purpose of chis standard is to promote safety in the de sign, construction, application, operation, and maintenance of powered industrial trucks. This standard may be used as a guide by governmental authorities desiring co formulate safety rules and regulations. This standard is also intended for voluntary use by others associated with manufacturing or utilizing powered industrial  trucks.
