scope:

This standard is intended to cover the minimum requirements for Type H (see 1.4.1 for definition) open, simple, and regenerative cycle combustion gas turbine units for refinery services of mechanical drive, generator drive, or process gas generation. Type G gas turbines are covered in API Standard 679 (to be developed). All necessary auxiliary equipment is included directly or by reference in this sta~dard. Specifically intended to be covered are gas turbine units capable of (I) continuous service for a minimum of 3 years; (2) air flow of greater than 50 pounds per second (22. 7 kilograms per second) for process gas generators, or 5000 horsepower (3. 7 megawatts) for shaft power; and (3) firing gas, liquid fuel, or both.
