scope:

This standard defines requirements for digital time-division multiplexing (data bus) techniques which are utilized on aircraft . It encompasses the data bus line and its interface electronics (multiplex terminal unit or MTU) as illustrated on figure 1, and also defines the concept of operation and information flow on the multiplex data bus and the electrical and functional formats t o be employed.

Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to establish uniform requirements for multiplex data bus techniques which will be utilized in multiple air vehicle applications. It is intended to be utilized with future application oriented standards such as Avionics Multiplex (AMUX)or Electrical Multiplex (EMUX)standards. This standard addresses that portion of the multiplex techniques which are utilized in all air vehicle data bus applications and is intended t o establish commonality of function and interface for those techniques.
