INTRODUCTION
The present methods of promulgating information on approved modifications differ slightly between the French and British Services, however, the basic information required from the Manufacturer is common. The effect of modifications on publications will be dealt with in France by French procedures and in the UK by UK procedures; a summary of which follows.
French Service Modification information is issued in two separate stages, Stage 1 is the production of a 'decision to modify' leaflet, this gives a description of the modification, its classification and cost, and its effect upon the operation and servicing of the equipment or main sore to which it is applied. Stage 2 is the production of a 'technical instruction' leaflet (prepared only if it is to be applied by the User) which describes the actual incorporation of a modification, including material, tools, personnel and time involved. The British method of publishing the same information is to issue Stages 1 and 2 in a single leaflet.
The French 'decision to modify' is issued immediately a modification is officially approved and classified, thus acting as advance information to the Service User. The 'technical instructions' are issued to reach the User before he obtains the actual components of a modification kit from store. The British 'modification leaflet' is issued to meet the same delivery requirement as the French 'technical instruction'.
