Purpose. The Fleet Hospital's (FH) primary mission is to provide a standardized, modular, flexible ashore combat medical and dental service capability. Through the direction of Chief of Naval Operations (N093), with implementation by the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), the FH Program was established. This instruction provides policy, direction, and guidance for the manpower and training strategy of the FH Program, both Active and Reserve. Enclosure (1) lists the acronyms used in this directive.

Applicability. This instruction applies fully to Active and Reserve FHs.
