Preface

This is the fourth edition of the B64 Series of Standards, Backflow Preventers and Vacuum Breakers. It supersedes the previous editions, published in 1994, 1988, and 1976.

This edition includes the following Standards:

(b) B64.1.1 Vacuum Breakers, Atmospheric Type (AVB);

(c) B64.1.2 Vacuum Breakers, Pressure Type (PVB);

(e) B64.2.1 Vacuum Breakers, Hose Connection Type (HCVB) with Manual Draining Feature;

Items (f), (i), (k), (m), (o), and (r) are new Standards. CSA Standards B64.10, Manual for the Selection and Installation of Backflow Prevention Devices, and B64.10.1, Manual for the Maintenance and Field Testing of Backflow Prevention Devices, are the result of dividing the 1994 edition of CSA Standard B64.10 into two Standards. CSA Standards B64.10 and B64.10.1 are issued together as a separate publication.

This Series of Standards was prepared by the Technical Committee on Backflow Preventers and Water Pressure Reducing Valves, under the jurisdiction of the Strategic Steering Committee on Plumbing Products and Materials, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. The Standards in this Series will be submitted to the Standards Council of Canada for approval as National Standards of Canada.
