This standard describes the surface appearance and quality requirements for exterior painted applied parts. The requirements are described in terms of appearance attributes and surface blemishes for each tone within a part. The purpose of these requirements is to ensure that the level of final finish on GM vehicles will meet or exceed the level shown by our competitors and expected by our customers. NOTE: An applied part is one which is topcoated with the final color, shipped to an assembly plant and installed in General Assembly. 1.1 Deviations from this specification, if required, must be detailed in the appropriate part drawing.
