This specification covers the general requirements for sockets and socket accessories for plug-in Electronic components, such as electron tubes and related Electronic devices, plug-in capacitors, crystal units, batteries, vibrators, relays, transistors, coils, etc. (see 6.1). Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques are required in the manufacturing process to minimize variation in the production of sockets and accessories supplied to the requirements of the specification. See 6.1 for restrictions on intended use and application.

The PIN shall consist of the letter "M", the basis number of the specification sheet, and an assigned dash number as shown in the following example:
