This specification covers the performance, design, development, and test requirements for the Interface Adapter Unit (IAU), hereinafter referred to as the IAU. The IAU will interface the TSEC/KG-84, TSEC/KG-84A, or TSEC/KG-84C to shipboard secure communication systems. Hereinafter, the term KG-84 will be used to refer to all members of the KG-84 family, that is, the TSEC/KG-84, TSEC/KG-84A and TSEC/KG-84C. When specifying a particular member of the KG-84 family, that member is referred to by its specific name (for example, TSEC/KG-84C).
