This Naval Engineering Standard (NES) describes the requirements and procedure for setting up and maintaining a Configuration Management System suitable for Surface Warships. It also sets out the MOD policy for Configuration Management of the Build and Through-Life Support of Surface Warships.
This NES defines the requirements for Ship Fit Definition in Partial and Non-Configuration Managed ships.
This NES does not cover the procedures used for the various support activities concerning the procurement and provision of 'spares'.
