scope:
This ETS covers the assessment of ERMES Paging receivers and ancillary equipment in respect of electromagnetic compatibility.
This ETS specifies the applicable EMC tests, the method of measurements, the limits and the minimum performance criteria for ERMES Paging receivers and the associated ancillary equipment.
The Environment classification used in this ETS refers to the environment classification used in the Generic Standards EN 50081-1 [4], EN 50082-1 [5], except the vehicular environment class which refers to the ISO 7637 standard [9].
The EMC requirements have been selected to ensure an adequate level of compatibility for apparatus at residential, commercial, light industrial and vehicular environments. The levels however do not cover extreme cases which may occur in any location but with a low probability of occurrence.
Frequency spectrum utilisation parameters of the receivers are excluded from the concept of EMC. These parameters are specified in ETS 300 133-5 [12]. These parameters include but are not limited to sensitivity, adjacent channel selectivity, blocking, spurious responses, intermodulation response and spurious emissions from the antenna and the enclosure of the receiver.
An antenna socket, if fitted, is considered as an input port carrying frequency spectrum utilisation signal only. Therefore no tests according to this standard shall be applied to this input port unless explicitly required.
Conformance to this ETS and marking the equipment shall be in accordance with the rules laid down in the Council Directive 89/336/EEC [1] AND 92/31/EEC [2].
This ETS may be used to fulfill the essential EMC requirements of the TTE Directive 91/263/EEC [3] Article 4 (c), (f) and (g) when called for by the relevant CTR (Common Technical Regulation).
Compliance to this ETS does not signify compliance to any safety requirements, however, any observation regarding apparatus becoming dangerous or unsafe as a result of the application of the tests defined in this standard shall be recorded in the test report.
