This specification covers a forced draft and ventilation air personnel heater assembly, referred to as a "heater" (see 6.1).
Heaters should be of the following types and classes, as specified:
Type I - Heaters that must take their combustion and ventilating air from the same source ("Single Air"). Class I - Heaters that have a nominal rating of 8.8 kilowatts (kW) (30 000 British Thermal Units per Hour [Btu/hr]), but are also capable of operating at a nominal heating rate of 4.4 kW (15 000 Btu/hr).

Type II - Heaters that can take their combustion and ventilating air from separate sources ("Dual Air"). Class II - Heaters that have a nominal maximum rating of 17.6 kW (60 000 Btu/hr), but are also capable of operating at a nominal heating rate of 8.8 kW (30 000 Btu/hr).
